To provide reassurance to all stakeholders, GBI has invested in high-precision response technologies for preventing and resolving water pollution.

At GBI, we consider "the sea to be a national treasure." Therefore, we not only comply with the law, but we set new standards for marine environmental protection with a multi-layer protection system designed to prevent incidents before they occur and respond immediately to crises.

A.Intelligent monitoring and detection.

  • 24/7 AI-Satellite Monitoring: We combine the power of satellite imagery technology with AI systems to detect surface anomalies around the project island and shipping routes 24 hours a day, allowing us to see problems even at night or in poor weather conditions.
  • Autonomous Marine Drones: Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) surveillance drones equipped with sensors to detect oil and chemical spills will be deployed on a schedule to patrol and inspect high-risk areas immediately upon detection of malfunctions in heat or pressure detection systems within pipelines.
  • Real-time Sensor Network: Every connection point in the piping system and oil storage tanks is equipped with Smart Sensors that alert the central control center (Zone C Data Center) to any abnormalities within a fraction of a second.


B.Tiered Response Strategy

GBI implements contingency plans based on international standards (ITOPF) to ensure efficient resource management.:

  • Tier 1 (Instant Local Action): The project's on-site response team, equipped with high-speed oil skimmers and oil booms spanning over 5,000 meters, is ready to deploy containment measures and collect oil spills within the project area immediately.
  • Tier 2 (Regional Synergies): Establishing a collaborative network with government agencies (Marine Department/Royal Thai Navy) and the private sector in the oil industry to systematically support the provision of heavy equipment and personnel from nearby areas.
  • Tier 3 (Global Expertise): Strategic partnership with Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) and global maritime rescue organizations to respond to international crises with advanced machinery and technology from abroad.


C.Eco-Restoration & Non-Toxic Clean-up

  • Bio-Organic Dispersants: We stock a special biodegradable spill cleanup agent that is certified to not harm coral reefs, seagrass, and juvenile marine life.
  • Post-Incident Rehabilitation: A post-incident ecosystem restoration plan, in collaboration with the Marine Research Institute, aims to quickly and systematically restore the natural resources in the Ranong area.
